Sthapana Celebrations 2012

Dear Devotees of the Hindu Temple,

On May 18, 19, and 20th, 2012, We mark the FIVE Year Anniversary of the Sthapana of our Temple Idols. The Board and Executive Committee would like to invite you to celebrate this occasion over a course of three days with Pujas performed by Swami Venugopalcharya from Tulsa.,OK. (He did the Bhagavad Gita Homam last year at our temple and he has graciously agreed to help us with our celebrations.)
We welcome devotees from the surrounding areas to join us in this auspicious event.
All devotees are welcome to sponsor any of the pujas or all the four pujas.

We start our celebrations with a Homam on Friday evening. Please let us know if you can come in early and help with preparations. Volunteers are welcome to come at 5 PM to help with the setup.
All devotees  are welcome to participate in the Homam.

The Homam will be followed by Mahaprasad.


19th May, Saturday
10am to 12.30pm---     Sri Venkateswara Kalyanam , Harati   

All devotees are welcome to sponsor this puja.

Life Members are invited to participate in this puja free of charge.

We currently have 21 life members. We hope that our annual members who have been debating about life membership will take this opportunity to become life members before the Sthapana Anniversary Celebrations.

Lunch will be at the temple, cooked at the IAA hall.(sponsored by HTA)

19th May, Saturday
5pm to 7pm----             Sri Rudra Homam, Harati  

The event on saturday night will be followed by Mahaprasad. Please mark your calenders to be at the temple for this event. The Balavihar groups will do a special presentation after the Puja.

Homam will be followed by Mahaprasad.

20th May, Sunday
9am to 12.30pm---    Suprabhatam, Bhagavad Gita Homam, Harati

All devotees can sponsor either to perform or do Sankalpam for this puja.

The five founding families will be performing this Homam along with other sponsors.

This will be followed by a Lunch at the temple.(sponsored by HTA)

HINDU TEMPLE OF AMARILLO

Directions: From I-40 or Hillside:  Go south on Soncy, Right on FM 2590 South, Right on FM 2186 West at 4-Way Stop. The Temple is on the left (between the Fire Station and Church).  It is an almond colored metal building with a red roof.  

 

1. What are the hours of operation for the Temple?

The Temple is open by volunteers, If you wish to have darshan, please contact any member of the HTA and they will direct you to the volunteer opening the Temple for the day.

The volunteer calendar list can be accessed by anybody getting the temple newsletter.

2. What is the Dress Code for the Temple?

Indian attire is highly recommended for ALL.  As a mark of reverence, devotees and guests should dress appropriately and MODESTLY when visiting the temple. Shorts are not acceptable except for children up to grade 5.

3. How can I help the Temple? 

We are truly thankful for the strong community support that we have received.  We would not be where we are today, without the support of the Indian Community in Amarillo.  There are still a lot of things that need to be accomplished before the Temple can function as a self-sufficient entity and be everything that it needs to be for the community members.

 Financial:  Temple still needs financial support to accomplish its mission.  You can support us by becoming a member and/or donating money (lump sum or every month).  We also have the ability to accept stocks as donations.   Please contact any one of the office bearers for more information on the procedure involved to take advantage of this tax benefit.  Please contact one of the board members to pick a choice that is suitable for you. 

 Volunteer:  We are seeking volunteers to do various activities at the temple. Please contact any one of the office bearers for more information.

 4. Will there be a Priest in the Temple?

We are currently looking for a full-time priest.

5. How can we receive the temple newsletter?

We are sending out email newsletters periodically, to keep you posted on upcoming events and activities.  Please send an email to amarillomandir@yahoo.com with TEMPLE NEWSLETTER in the subject line if you wish to receive this newsletter.   

6. What is the temple's 501c3 status?

The Internal Revenue Service has completed its review of the Temple’s application for 501(c)(3) status as a public charity. The IRS has granted us exempt status with an effective date of November 11, 2002. This means that the Temple is exempt from Federal Income Tax and that all your contributions made to the Temple are also tax deductible. Additionally, the Temple is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers and gifts. 

You can make your donations by cash, check or direct deposit and choose any schedule you’d like, i.e. contribute weekly, monthly, yearly or in anyway you please. For added convenience, the Temple also has a Brokerage Account which allows us to accept stocks and securities. If you have any questions regarding the Temple’s status or wish to make a contribution via stocks/securities, you may contact any of the Board Members.

Please help preserve the sanctity of the temple: 

1. Please switch all the cell phones and pagers to silent or vibrate mode prior to entering the temple.

2. Parents are requested NOT to let their children run in the temple.   

3. Observe the dress code.
